Exterior Columns for Support and Decoration Bob meets with Jeff Davis of Chadsworth Columns to look at the structural columns supporting the rear deck of the modular home. The four-by-six treated wood timbers are encased in factory built and cut, paintable PVC (polyvinyl chloride) columns. The installed cost is about 50 percent of solid wood and the PVC will never be infested with termites. The four-by-six post is installed to code on a concrete column that extends below the frost line. Michael Shiels from Shiels Builders demonstrates the ease of installing the decorative façade of the column.
